A journey to the heart of the high plateau

Volcán Isluga National Park is a treasure of the Chilean highlands. Located more than 4,000 meters above sea level, its main attractions include the volcano that gives it its name.

Through its trails you can see a unique biodiversity, with animals such as vicuñas, rheas, and vizcachas, as well as bofedales and lagoons that are home to Andean ducks and flamingos. Cómo llegar por aire

If you are coming from abroad, you should land at the Santiago Airport and then take a 2-hour flight to the Diego Aracena Airport in Iquique. From that city, you must travel along Route 15 to Colchane, where the entrances to the park are located.

Cómo llegar por tierra

From Iquique, you must travel 26 km to Huara and from there travel 180 km along Route 15 to Colchane, where the main entrances to the park are located. You can also enter through the northern sector from Arica, crossing the Salar de Surire Monument towards Route A-395. It is a high mountain route with complex sections, so a 4×4 vehicle is essential.

To visit these places, acclimatize and stay well hydrated, as the altitude can cause discomfort. Carry snacks, warm clothing, and a first-aid kit in your backpack.
