If you prefer to travel by land, taking an intercity bus or train is an excellent choice. From Santiago, Chile’s capital, you can find tickets to practically anywhere in the country.
Main bus terminals in Santiago
- Alameda Terminal: Located at Av. Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins 3570. Its buses cover most destinations in the country. Check the address here.
- Los Héroes Terminal: Located at the intersection of Tucapel Jiménez and Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins avenues. Its buses mainly head to the north of Chile. Check the address here.
- San Borja Terminal (formerly Terminal Norte): Located at the intersection of San Borja and Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins avenues. It has bus departures to the north and center of Chile. Check the address here.

If you are looking for a scenic and comfortable way to travel by land, the train is an excellent option. From Santiago, Estación Central serves as the departure point for various cities in the central and southern regions of the country. Additionally, there are regional services connecting nearby towns.

Estación Central is Santiago’s main train station. Located at Avenida Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins 3170, it is easily accessible via Line 1 of the Santiago Metro, which features a station of the same name and a direct connection. Check the address here.

- Long-Distance: The primary service is the Chillán-Estación Central Train, connecting Santiago and Chillán (about 400 km south) with a journey time of approximately 4 hours and 40 minutes. It stops in major cities such as Rancagua, Talca, and Linares.
- Tourist Trains: EFE offers special trips such as the Tren del Recuerdo (Train of Memories) or journeys through the wine routes. We recommend booking these tickets in advance at the following link.
- Regional and Commuter Trains: There are various local train services. The Limache-Puerto Train connects Valparaíso and Viña del Mar with cities like Quilpué, Villa Alemana, and Limache, while the Nos and Rancagua trains connect Santiago with its outskirts. The Biotrén operates in Greater Concepción, while the historic Talca-Constitución branch line runs in the Maule region.
