How to get there
How to get there by air
You must travel to El Tepual Airport in Puerto Montt (PMC), with direct flights from Santiago. From the terminal, you can take a bus, transfer, or rent a vehicle to get to Cochamó. The journey by land is 90 km and lasts about 2 hours.
How to get there by land
If you are coming from Santiago, take Route 5 South (1,150 km) to Puerto Montt. From there, continue along Route 7 (Carretera Austral) to the turnoff to the Cochamó Valley. The complete trip takes 13 to 15 hours, so plan your route in stages.
Must-Know Tips
Cochamó does not have ATMs, so it is recommended to bring cash. Make advance reservations for camping in the Cochamó Valley, especially in high season. The climate is humid and changeable, so bring waterproof clothing, warm layers, and water-resistant trekking shoes.
