Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Santiago (SCL) is the closest airport to the ski resorts. From there, you must hire a private transfer service or rent a vehicle to go up. The mountain roads have sharp curves, and you must drive with great caution.
How to get there by land
From Santiago, to La Parva, El Colorado, and Valle Nevado, take Route G-21 or Camino a Farellones (40 km, 2 hours). For Portillo, take the Autopista Los Libertadores and Route 60-CH (160 km, 2 hours 30 minutes). Both routes have sharp curves and require chains.
Must-Know Tips
Before going up, check the weather and road conditions. In high season (June-September), book in advance and wear thermal clothing. It is mandatory to carry chains for the vehicle, as these are mountain roads that require caution. The ski resorts rent equipment, but it is advisable to check their websites before traveling.
