How to get there
How to get there by air
Your flight will arrive at Chacalluta International Airport (ARI) in Arica. From there, transportation to Socoroma is by land (115 km, 3 hours). The recommended option is to rent a vehicle at the airport or coordinate a private transfer/tour. Keep in mind that it is a high mountain route.
How to get there by land
From Arica, you must travel 125 km (approx. 3 hours) inland along International Route 11-CH. The road ascends through the Lluta Valley and has many curves and truck traffic. The best option is to take a tour. If you are going to drive, it is essential to do so with caution, bring water, and acclimatize to the altitude during the ascent.

Being in the highlands, acclimatization to the altitude is essential. Bring water and food supplies, as services in the area are limited. The climate varies significantly between sunny days and cold nights, so it is essential to wear layered clothing and sun protection. For a better experience, hire local guides.
