Float in the Atacama Desert
The Hidden Lagoons of Baltinache are a surprising system of seven turquoise water mirrors embedded in the Llano de la Paciencia. The intense color of its waters contrasts dramatically with the white of the saline formations that surround them, creating a landscape of surreal beauty that seems hand-painted.
Its greatest attraction lies in the very high concentration of salt, which will allow you to float effortlessly, as it happens in the Dead Sea. It is an ideal destination to relax, with perfect panoramic views for those looking to capture the visual essence of the desert.

How to get there
How to get there by air
Start your trip to the desert by landing in Calama, at El Loa Airport (CJC). From this point, the 100 km journey takes you to San Pedro. To reach the Hidden Lagoons, we advise you to coordinate with a tourism agency that includes transportation, thus avoiding exposing your private vehicle to the difficult roads of calamina and salt.
How to get there by land
From San Pedro de Atacama, drive along Route 23 towards Calama. At km 14 (Llano de la Paciencia), take the detour towards Route B-241. The total trip lasts approximately one hour. The road is dirt and salt with a lot of “calamina” (strong undulations), so it is essential to go in a van or high vehicle to avoid damage.
Must-Know Tips
It is crucial to bring plenty of fresh water to remove the salt after bathing, as well as a towel and swimsuit. Check the entrance times and fees in advance. To protect this fragile ecosystem, you can only use sunscreens that are biodegradable. We recommend going to a tour operator for your visit.
