Gateway to Antarctica

The South Shetland Islands act as the gateway for expeditions and cruises to Antarctica. Located 120 km from the white continent, this archipelago of dark rock and snow is usually the first point of arrival after crossing the Drake Passage.

Its largest island, King George, functions as the main scientific and tourist center for visitors. Navigation will take you to Livingston and Half Moon Islands, natural sanctuaries where you will disembark to observe large colonies of chinstrap and gentoo penguins up close, along with elephant seals and Antarctic fur seals.
