Day 1
Trails and nature in Panguipulli
To get there, you can fly from Santiago to Pichoy Airport (ZAL) in Valdivia or to La Araucanía Airport (ZCO) in Temuco. From either of these, the drive to Panguipulli takes about 1 hour and a half, enjoying views of the lakes and forests of the south along the way.
Start the day in Panguipulli, where the mountain landscape and the imposing lake invite you to walk along the waterfront and learn about the local culture. Just 6 kilometers away, in the Millahue Forest Reserve, is the Entre Robles Viejos Trail, a guided experience that will allow you to explore ancient native forests.
You can choose between two circuits:
- Old Forest and the magic of the hualve, 1 hour and a half long, ideal for observing native species.
- Ecology and sustainable management of the native forest, 3 hours long and of medium difficulty, to learn about conservation and biodiversity.
At the end of the day, enjoy a local dinner in the center of Panguipulli, with typical southern dishes and views of the lake.

Scenic routes and mountain lagoons in Liquiñe
From Panguipulli, head towards Liquiñe, about 60 kilometers east (approximately 1 hour and a half by car). This picturesque mountain village is famous for its natural hot springs and spectacular hiking trails.
The must-see of the day is the Laguna Ancacoihue Trail, a moderate hike that leads to a heart-shaped lagoon with panoramic views of the Villarrica volcano and the Lanín volcano.
In the area you can also explore:
- La Esperanza Park, with guided routes through native forests.
- Salto La Niña Encantada Trail, surrounded by local legends.
- Epulafquén Park, on the border with Argentina, ideal for hiking and photography.
- Juan Millanao Trails and Salto del Ciervo, with waterfalls up to 50 meters high.
To end the day, relax in the Liquiñe hot springs and enjoy a typical dinner in local restaurants such as La Cabaña del Lago or Casa Liquiñe, before returning or spending the night in a cozy inn.

How to get there by air
From Santiago (SCL), take a 1 hour and 20 minute flight to Valdivia (ZAL) or Temuco (ZCO).
How to get there by land
From any of these cities, travel by road to Panguipulli (1 hour and a half). To explore the different lakes and towns, it is recommended to rent a vehicle or hire local tours.
Climate and clothing
The climate is temperate rainy throughout the year, with pleasant summers (20–25 °C) and frequent rains. It is recommended to dress in layers, wear trekking footwear, a light jacket, and a waterproof layer.
Must-Know Tips
Book accommodation in advance, especially in summer. Bring sunscreen, insect repellent, and enough water. Respect the protected areas, signs, and access hours to trails and parks.
