Day 1

Scenic route to Cerro Guido

The journey begins upon landing in Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales. If you are coming from Punta Arenas, you will take Route 9 North for 250 km (about 3 hours) to Puerto Natales, crossing the immense Patagonian pampa, a landscape that immediately immerses you in the scale and solitude of the region.

The final stretch, from Puerto Natales, continues along the same Route 9 for about 100 kilometers (about an hour and a half). This section is especially scenic: to your left, you can briefly detour to visit the Cueva del Milodón Natural Monument. As you advance, the steppe landscape gives way to the pre-mountain range, and if the weather permits, you will get the first glimpses of the Paine massif in the distance.

The Estancia Cerro Guido is strategically located on the same route, shortly before the turnoff to the Sarmiento gate of the park. Upon arrival, check in and admire how the historic architecture is framed against the Sierra Contreras. Take advantage of the afternoon to organize your trekking equipment and rest.
