Day 1
Yagán Culture and Views of the Beagle Channel
Our itinerary begins by exploring Puerto Williams. Your first stop is the Martín Gusinde Anthropological Museum, a must-see to understand the history of the canoe peoples, especially the Yagán culture, and the life of the pioneers in this remote region. The visit will take you a couple of hours.
After a replenishing lunch, dedicate your afternoon to a three-hour panoramic trekking along the Cerro La Bandera Trail. This is a hike of medium difficulty that will take you to a natural viewpoint. From the top, you will get a spectacular view of Puerto Williams and the immensity of the Beagle Channel.
To end the day, enjoy the local cuisine in one of the town’s cozy restaurants. Trying the fresh king crab is almost a must. It is the best way to replenish your energy before the great physical challenge that awaits you the following day.

Trekking to the Dientes de Navarino
Today you will face one of the most legendary hikes in Patagonia. The entire day is dedicated to completing the first stage of the famous Dientes de Navarino circuit. From 8 to 10 hours in total and highly demanding, this trek will take you into the first sections of the mountain range, reaching the Paso de la Australia.
The trail ascends steadily through subantarctic forests of lenga and ñirre trees, and then gives way to alpine tundra terrain. The goal is to reach Paso de la Australia, the first major milestone of the circuit, an effort that will take you between 4 and 5 hours each way.
The reward for your effort will be a breathtaking view: a valley dotted with lagoons and the sharp granite peaks of the Dientes de Navarino stretching out in front of you. After enjoying this unique landscape, you will begin the long descent back to Puerto Williams for a well-deserved farewell dinner.

What you should know
How to get there by air
The fastest way to get to Puerto Williams is to take a flight on the 19-seater planes of the airline DAP from Punta Arenas (PUQ). It is a trip that lasts approximately 1.5 hours and offers spectacular views of the Cordillera de Darwin.
How to get there by land
There is a ferry that connects Punta Arenas with Puerto Williams in approximately 32 hours. Although it is a long journey, it is a scenic experience in itself, sailing through the Patagonian fjords and channels. The main points of interest on the itinerary, such as the museum and the start of the trails, are accessible on foot from any accommodation.
Climate and clothing
The weather is extreme and changes drastically. Dress in layers, always including thermal clothing, fleece, and waterproof jacket and pants. High-cut trekking shoes are essential for your hike on the second day.
Must-Know Tips
Puerto Williams is a remote destination. It is essential to book flights and accommodation well in advance. Bring cash, as not all services accept cards. Trekking to the Dientes de Navarino requires excellent physical condition.
