Day 1
Alegre and Concepción Hills
Our adventure begins at the Congress, in front of the Valparaíso bus terminal. From there, you will need to travel in a micro or colectivo for about 10 minutes to reach Plaza de la Justicia. Here you will take the El Peral Funicular to go up Alegre Hill and explore the Yugoslavo Promenade with its imposing Baburizza Palace.
Then, walk to the Dimalow Promenade to enjoy its famous street art and see the upper station of the Reina Victoria Funicular. From there, you can walk to Concepción Hill, the ideal place for a lunch with fresh seafood and panoramic views that capture the essence of the port.
After lunch, go up the Concepción Funicular, the oldest in the city, to the Gervasoni Promenade, famous for its views and art galleries. And to conclude your day, dine in one of the restaurants on the vibrant Alegre Hill.

On your second day, head towards Plaza Aduana to go up the Artillería Funicular. This will leave you at the Paseo 21 de Mayo, which offers one of the most famous and photographed views of Valparaíso. Here you can also visit the National Maritime Museum, where you can learn about Chile’s naval history.
After a walk of about 15 to 20 minutes through the streets that connect the hills, you will arrive at the neighboring Cordillera Hill to take the San Agustín Funicular and descend to the city’s coast. This route will leave you in the Mercado Puerto area, where you will find eateries and restaurants perfect for a traditional lunch.
In the afternoon, after a trip of about 25 to 30 minutes by bus, you will arrive at the Barón Funicular. Go up to explore the hill and enjoy its unique views. Finally, return to the center to experience the vibrant port city nightlife in one of its bars or cultural centers.

What you should know
How to get there by air
First you must land at the Santiago Airport (SCL), where you can rent a vehicle to go to Valparaíso. You can also go to the Pajaritos and Alameda terminals in the capital, from where there is a high frequency of buses to the entire country. The trip from the capital to Valparaíso lasts about 90 minutes.
How to get there by land
From Santiago, Valparaíso is 120 kilometers away, a journey of approximately 90 minutes. Once in the city, you can get around in micros (local buses) and colectivos (shared taxis).
Climate and clothing
The climate is coastal and can be windy. It is recommended to dress in layers and bring a windbreaker. Always wear very comfortable shoes, ideal for walking on hills, stairs, and cobblestone streets. Sunscreen is essential.
Must-Know Tips
Bring cash to pay for the funiculars, as many do not accept cards. Valparaíso is a city to walk, but always be aware of your belongings.
