Mirrors in the highlands
The Miscanti and Miñiques lagoons are one of the most iconic images of the Chilean highlands. The intense turquoise blue of its waters contrasts dramatically with the arid landscape and snow-capped peaks, creating an awe-inspiring setting in the immensity of the Atacama Desert.
Located at more than 4,100 meters above sea level, they are separated only by the lava flow that flowed from the volcanoes that gave them their name. In addition, they constitute a sanctuary for bird watching, harboring unique species such as flamingos and horned coots.
