How to get there

How to get there by air

The closest airport is Chacalluta International Airport (ARI), with direct flights from Santiago. From there, you must rent a vehicle or hire a tour. Drive 160 km (almost 3 hours) along Route CH-11 to ascend to the park.

How to get there by land

From Arica, take Route CH-11. Travel 145 km (about 3 hours) ascending to the highlands. Drive with caution: it is a mountain road with curves and you must acclimatize to the altitude. You can hire a tour or drive a vehicle in optimal condition.

Must-Know Tips

You will be more than 4,000 meters above sea level, so you must take precautions to avoid altitude sickness: avoid restless nights, intense efforts, and stay hydrated. The climate of the highlands is dry with high solar radiation, so use sunscreen, a hat, and glasses. Respect the fauna and do not leave garbage.
