Los Dedos Paleontological Park preserves the remains of a marine fauna extinct millions of years ago. It is located near Caldera, in a site recognized for its scientific and heritage value. Its interpretive trails allow you to discover remains of marine sloths, sharks, and gigantic birds such as the Pelagornis.
The circuit invites you to walk through an open-air museum with replicas that recreate the ancient coastal landscape, while the visitor center provides the necessary context to understand the paleontological richness of the area. How to get there
How to get there by air
First, you must arrive at the Desierto de Atacama Airport (CPO). From there, Los Dedos Paleontological Park is only 30 km (30 minutes) to the south.
How to get there by land
The park is located 8 km (10 minutes) south of Bahía Inglesa, next to Route 5. You can travel by private vehicle or via local transportation circulating in the resort.
Must-Know Tips
We recommend hiring a guided tour to enhance your visit. This park has some access restrictions to avoid damage to the fossil sites and the ecosystem, so it is important that you respect the staff’s instructions. Remember to prepare for the arid desert climate.
