How to get there by air

Fly to Desierto de Atacama Airport (CPO) in Copiapó, your base city. From there, organize your expedition to ascend to the base of the volcano. The 240 km journey from Copiapó requires a robust 4×4 vehicle and a driver with proven experience in high mountain routes.

How to get there by land

From Copiapó, take Route 31-CH east. The 240 km route crosses the Nevado Tres Cruces National Park. Due to the altitude and variable road conditions, the journey takes between 4 to 5 hours. Prior acclimatization and a 4×4 vehicle are absolutely essential for this challenge.
