Porvenir
Epicenter of Tierra del Fuego
Porvenir stands as the capital of Chilean Tierra del Fuego. Its main access involves crossing the Strait of Magellan from Punta Arenas, a journey where you can spot Commerson's dolphins jumping alongside the ferry.
The city preserves a strong identity linked to Croatian immigration and the gold rush. In its urban area, the Fernando Cordero Rusque Museum and the Selk’nam memorial narrate the local history, while a few kilometers away, it is essential to visit the Laguna de los Cisnes. There you can observe the stromatolites, strange biological formations considered living fossils.
