How to get there

How to get there by air

The closest air terminal is La Florida Aerodrome (LSC), in La Serena. From there, the journey by vehicle takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes (approx. 87 km), heading along Route 41 towards the Elqui Valley.

How to get there by land

From La Serena, drive east on Route 41 (road to Vicuña) for approximately 87 km. The signposted detour that ascends to the observatory is a gravel road. It is essential to schedule your visit weeks in advance, as places are limited and are only available on Saturdays.

Visits to the observatory must be booked in advance on their website, as places are limited. The mountain climate presents a large thermal oscillation, so bring sunscreen for the day and warm clothes for the afternoon. Respect all instructions, as this is a workplace.
