How to get there
How to get there by air
You should travel to La Araucanía Airport in Temuco (ZCO), which has direct flights from Santiago. From the air terminal, you can take a bus or rent a vehicle to transfer to Pucón or Villarrica. You will be about 85 km away, which you can travel in between an hour and a half to two hours.
How to get there by land
Route 5 South is the main route from Santiago. You will travel 760 km to Villarrica and 785 km to Pucón. The car trip is extensive (8 to 9 hours), so you must plan rest stops. There are intercity buses that connect the capital directly with both destinations.
Must-Know Tips
In southern Chile, always wear waterproof and warm clothing, and comfortable and water-resistant shoes. For rafting, canopy, or trekking, wear quick-drying sportswear and bring extra clothes. Do not forget sunscreen and repellent. When visiting national parks, respect trails and entry and exit times.
