Chile offers a diverse climate: hot deserts in the north, Mediterranean in the center, frequent rainfall in the southern region, and cold glaciers in the far south. A four-season journey for which you must prepare!
Climate by zones of Chile
- North: The north of Chile has an arid and sunny climate, with warm deserts and cool nights, which are especially cold in the altiplano (high plateau). It is common for temperatures to exceed 20°C during the day and drop drastically below 0°C at night. Rainfall is scarce and sporadic, but it gives life to magical phenomena such as the blooming desert.
- Center: The central valley of Chile has a Mediterranean climate, with warm, dry summers (December to March) and cool, rainy winters (June to August). These conditions are ideal for vine cultivation, giving rise to its famous vineyards, while the winter rains ensure intensely green landscapes in spring.
- South: The south of Chile has a temperate and rainy climate, with mild summers and a high probability of rain throughout the year, even during the summer season. Thanks to the constant humidity, green landscapes, lush forests, and crystal-clear lakes are the main features of the area.
