What you should know

How to get there by air

The most direct way is to fly to Puerto Natales Aerodrome (PNT), although flights are seasonal. The alternative with permanent connection is Punta Arenas (PUQ), from where you will have to travel three hours by land to reach Natales.

How to get there by land

From Puerto Natales, the trip to Estancia Leona Amarga takes several hours on complex routes, including gravel and private roads. A 4×4 vehicle is essential. Often, the estancia itself coordinates or assists in the final stretch of the transfer.

Climate and clothing

The climate is steppe and mountain: dry, extremely windy and with high solar radiation. It is crucial to dress in layers, with complete protection against wind and sun. Firm and resistant trekking shoes are required.

Must-Know Tips

Leona Amarga is a private and exclusive estancia that operates only with prior reservation. You cannot arrive without coordination. The entire experience (accommodation, meals and excursions) is part of an integral program that you must contract directly.
