Your adventure begins with a scenic three-hour journey from Punta Arenas, crossing the Patagonian pampa until you reach Puerto Natales. Once you settle into your accommodation, you will have time for lunch and to prepare for the first excursion.
In the afternoon, you will head to the Cueva del Milodón Natural Monument, located just 25 kilometers north of the city. This is a fascinating archaeological site, where you can explore the cave where the remains of the milodon were found. This enormous prehistoric mammal, with its life-size replica, will give you an idea of the enormous fauna that inhabited the area thousands of years ago.
At the end of the visit, return to Puerto Natales to enjoy the excellent local cuisine, ideal for replenishing your energy and planning the next day.

The effort will be rewarded with one of the most impressive panoramic views of Patagonia. From the summit, you will have a 360-degree perspective that encompasses all of Puerto Natales, the Última Esperanza Sound and the vastness of the Patagonian steppe. It is the perfect place to feel the wind and the immensity of the landscape.
After the descent, return to Puerto Natales to enjoy a well-deserved lunch. For the afternoon, you can visit the Municipal Museum and absorb the history of this pioneering town, as well as enjoy a relaxed walk along the waterfront towards the Braun & Blanchard Historical Dock.

How to get there by air
The main airport in the region is Punta Arenas. From there, you must continue by land. Puerto Natales (PNT) has a smaller airfield with less frequent flights, which operates mainly in high season.

From Punta Arenas, you must travel 250 kilometers along Route 9 to reach Puerto Natales. To carry out this itinerary with flexibility, it is essential to have a private vehicle, as it will allow you to move easily between the city, the Cueva del Milodón and the beginning of the trail.
Climate and clothing
The Patagonian climate is very windy and unpredictable. Always dress in layers, including thermal clothing and a waterproof jacket. Firm trekking shoes are essential for the ascent to Cerro Dorotea. Do not forget a hat and sunscreen.
