From Santiago, you can take a 1-hour flight to General Bernardo O’Higgins Airport (YAI) in Chillán. From there, continue along the Route N-55 towards Termas de Chillán, on a journey of 82 kilometers that takes about 1 hour and a half by vehicle, ascending towards the Andes Mountains.

Once at the destination, check into one of the available hotels, such as the Hotel Termas de Chillán or the Hotel Nevados de Chillán, both known for their comfort, gastronomy, and thermal pools with mountain views.

After lunch, enjoy an afternoon of total relaxation in the thermal waters, rich in minerals and known for their therapeutic properties, ideal for relieving muscle pain and reducing stress. If you want to complement the experience, book a massage or spa treatment at the hotel facilities.

Nature and adventure in the Ñuble National Reserve

Start your day with a buffet breakfast with mountain views before heading to the Ñuble National Reserve, located 20 kilometers from the hot springs (about 30 minutes by car).

Once in the reserve, take a hike along the Aguas Calientes Trail, of 3 kilometers and moderate difficulty, which offers spectacular views of the mountain environment and the possibility of observing local fauna such as the condor, the huemul and other endemic species.

At noon, enjoy a picnic in the designated areas, surrounded by pure nature. In the afternoon, return to the hot springs to live a different experience: a guided horseback ride through the nearby forests, of approximately 2 hours, perfect for connecting with the environment.

Close the day with a dinner at the La Pulpería restaurant, known for its rustic atmosphere and typical Chilean cuisine, or return to the hotel to relax with a nighttime bath in the thermal pools before starting the return.

What you should know

How to get there by air

If you are coming from abroad, you must land at the Santiago Airport (SCL) and then travel 400 km to the city of Chillán, for which you can rent a private vehicle, take a train or a direct bus. Another option is to fly to Concepción Airport (CCP), and then travel just over 100 km to reach Chillán. If you do not have a vehicle for the final stretch to the mountain center, you can arrive by private transfer or shuttle bus.

How to get there by land

From the center of the city of Chillán, travel along Route N-55 towards Termas de Chillán (82 km). You can also arrive by land from Santiago in about 5 and a half hours of driving. To move between the hotel and the reserve, a private vehicle or local tour is recommended.

Climate and clothing

The climate is cold in winter, ideal for enjoying the snow, and temperate in summer, with perfect temperatures for hiking. It is recommended to dress in layers, wear comfortable trekking shoes, a swimsuit and a light coat.

Must-Know Tips

Book accommodation and excursions in advance, especially in high season. Bring sunscreen, sufficient hydration and respect the authorized areas within the park and the hot springs.
